My name is Alan Kempton, and I am a Quality Auditor and Compliance Specialist with hands‑on experience across high‑volume food manufacturing and retail food businesses. I specialise in internal auditing, process auditing, GMP compliance, allergen management, CCP verification, and audit readiness. I support businesses in meeting BRCGS, retailer, and customer‑specific standards, supplier audits and helping sites strengthen systems, HACCP, TACCP, CAPA and maintain robust, audit‑ready operations.

My Story
I am a Quality Auditor and Compliance Specialist with over eight years of hands‑on experience in high‑volume food manufacturing. I help businesses strengthen their systems, improve operational standards, and achieve full audit readiness across retail food businesses and all areas of food manufacturing.
My experience includes internal audits, GMP inspections, allergen management, CCP verification, pest‑control oversight, hygiene and environmental monitoring, and customer‑specific compliance checks. I have supported major external audits including Tesco, KFC, BRCGS, HALAL, and other retailer‑led assessments. I spend most of my time working for the second‑largest bakery in Europe, which requires technical expertise, strong problem‑solving skills, and deep operational knowledge to ensure complex, high‑volume production lines remain compliant, safe, and fully audit‑ready.
I work closely with Hygiene, Operations, Engineering, NPD, and Technical teams to resolve internal and external non‑conformances, improve documentation accuracy, and maintain robust traceability, allergen controls, and CCP standards across metal detection and sieving operations. I also deliver CCP training, competency assessments, and practical operational support to ensure sites meet retailer and certification requirements.
I collaborate with a range of specialist contractors and technical service providers, including Inspection System Services (ISS) for metal detection and X‑ray support, Mettler Toledo / Safeline for CCP equipment and calibration, and industry‑standard vision‑inspection systems used across high‑volume production. I also work with Microsoft Dynamics and ShireSystems to support technical documentation, maintenance records, and compliance workflows.
My background includes ELISA testing, allergen rapid / food contact swabbing, water sampling, process audits, and submission of samples to accredited laboratories. I provide clear reporting, CAPA support, root‑cause analysis, and gap analysis aligned with BRCGS clauses and customer requirements.
